Welcome Wanderer! (2015)
Welcome Wanderer! forms part of Healy’s larger body of work Outside the Red House based on the lives of British composer Benjamin Britten and his lover, the celebrated tenor Peter Pears. He is interested in making objects that open-up narrative spaces. With this work, he invites the viewer to step into the men’s isolated world. Healy imagines enigmatic paths taken by the lovers, pulling together the jigsaw pieces of Britten and Pears’ lives. The cable knit jumper is for Britten who would walk along Aldeburgh, a coastal town in Suffolk looking out to sea thinking of his lover and muse.
Richard Healy (b. 1980, London, UK) lives and works in London.
